How to Host a Halloween Movie Trivia Night

1. Set the audience and spoiler boundary

Before the first question, tell guests that the round includes plot details from Candyman, Tales from the Hood, Eve’s Bayou, Get Out, Us, Nope, Sinners, The Blackening, and Vampires vs. the Bronx. Ask anyone saving a film for later to sit out that title. Here, “Black horror” means films made by Black filmmakers and/or featuring Black-led casts and Black perspectives; it is a broad programming choice, not a claim that these movies are interchangeable.

2. Choose a room-friendly format

Solo play is fine for a quiet night, while two to four teams works well for a group. Give each team a name and one person responsible for saying the final answer. If the room is large, put the game on a television with existing Big Screen Mode. If it is small, one phone or laptop is enough. 3. Pick the round length

4. Mix eras and difficulty

Keep a paper score sheet if you are reading aloud; the interactive version can handle the normal game flow.

5. Host the reveal, not just the answer

After each response, read the short fun fact. It gives the group a reason to talk about the movie rather than treating trivia as a silent test. Let a disputed answer go to the source note or the film credits, then move on. Avoid adding extra points for obscure personal knowledge: the published answer should be the scoring standard.
